Parents Invited to Hands-On Technology Tour

ActivBus gives parents the chance to take part in the Douglas County School System's interactive classroom mobile technology tour, today through Friday.

Over the past several months, the Douglas County School System has been installing interactive technologies in every classroom so that students are better engaged and teachers have access to immediate feedback about what students learned during a lesson. As part of the school district’s Twenty First Century Classroom Initiative, that was defined by the district technology committee, every classroom is having an interactive whiteboard, interactive student response system and an interactive slate installed in it. This initiative is being funded by ESPLOST funds that voters approved to upgrade technology in the district.

This week Douglas County will host the Promethean ActivBus at several locations in an effort to show parents and community members what these technologies are capable of doing in the classroom. The ActivBus is Promethean’s 36 foot mobile, technology-enabled education experience on wheels. The bus tours travel across the country providing an interactive demonstration of the Promethean tools. Visitors will have an opportunity to see how students can work with the ActivBoard to make learning more engaging and interactive. They will also get to use the ActivExpression student response systems, just as students due in order to provide instant feedback to the teacher on what students have learned or what needs to be retaught. These demonstrations will provide insight into how these powerful tools can be used to improve classroom learning and increase student achievement.  For more information please visit the district’s website at www.douglas.k12.ga.us

The ActivBus will be at the following locations this week:
