New Law, New Vaccines Required for Rising Seventh-Graders

TDP, Meningitis vaccines needed according to a law taking effect July 1.

Students entering seventh grade this fall will need to get two vaccines, according to a state law going into effect Tuesday.

The new law requires rising seventh-graders to get a booster vaccine for TDP (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis, which is also known as whooping cough) and a vaccine against meningococcal meningitis.

As with other vaccines, parents can request a waiver for religious or medical reasons with proper paperwork.
