Kelley Named to Deal’s Advisory Board

Janet Kelley, Chair of the Douglas County Board of Education, has been named by Governor Nathan Deal as one of 13 members from across the state to his 2012 Advisory Board.

Janet Kelley, Chair of the , has been named by Governor Nathan Deal as one of 13 members from across the state to his 2012 Advisory Board for Local School Board Members.

Kelley and others on the committee will meet quarterly with Governor Deal during the year to provide feedback on education initiatives and to give a “boots on the ground” perspective on education in our state. In addition to the committee for local school board members, Governor Deal has three other statewide advisory groups–one each for teachers, principals and superintendents.

“I am honored to be selected to serve on the Governor's Education Advisory Board for Local School Board Members,” Kelley said in a press release. “I appreciate the opportunity to advocate for public education and commend the Governor for getting input from the education community.”

“It is a tribute to Kelley and the Douglas County School System that she is highly regarded by Governor Deal and has been invited to have a voice on this Advisory Board,” said Superintendent Dr. Gordon Pritz in the release. “She will do an excellent job representing Douglas County and other school boards across the state on the committee.” Dr. Pritz served on Governor Deal’s 2011 Superintendent’s Advisory Board.
