Factory Shoals Awarded for Success

Factory Shoals Middle was only one of six schools chosen in the state of Georgia for this award.

recently received the 2011 Effective Middle School Award from the Georgia Association of Middle School Principals (GAMSP). The GAMSP Effective Middle School Program Award is presented annually to those schools that best exemplify the middle school philosophy as well as academic success based on state and federal mandates. Factory Shoals Middle was only one of six schools chosen in the state of Georgia for this award.

“The efforts of our staff and students earned our school the first of such awards in the Douglas County School System. I am very proud of the achievements of our school,” said James Allen, principal.

Factory Shoals Middle School opened in August of 2007 and the staff and students began working to create the culture of Knight P.R.I.D.E. (Personal Responsibility In Developing Excellence). Allen states the school’s original Vision Statement continues to hold true in that Factory Shoals has developed into an outstanding middle school recognized for its successes. The school continuously strives to provide all students the opportunity to be successful in a nurturing and individually challenging environment.

Gladden Middle School, Murray County School System, Dr. Ardith Bates, principal
