Concerts in the Courthouse Today

Winston and Burnett Elementary School Choirs will perform at the courthouse today as part of Music in Our Schools Month

The is pleased to announce that a series of concerts by choruses from Douglas County schools will be presented on the Grand Staircase of the Courthouse Atrium in recognition of “Music in Our Schools” Month.

Board of Commissioners Chairman Tom Worthan stated that Our education system should be well rounded, and expose and teach our children many facets of life, including the arts, so that they will be better equipped to be an active and productive adult member of society. The Douglas County schools strive to provide a balanced curriculum for our youth, and we are pleased to be able to provide an opportunity for these talented youth to perform.

The lunchtime concerts will be held in the Courthouse Atrium, and the public is invited to take their lunch hour and attend. Seating will be available. The music and voices will soar through the four floors of the Atrium, 165 feet from the performance level to the cupola. The schedule of concert appearances is as follows:

All performances will be broadcast live on , the Douglas County government access channel and taped for re-broadcast on the weekends following the concerts. The replays will air through the month of April.
