Hermon Mason, County Financial's representative, visited the Douglas County College & Career Institute (CCI) on Sept. 23 and 24. Mason spoke with our Career Academy students on this month's GeorgiaBEST soft skills initiatives of Punctuality, Time Management and Attendance. Each student will write a reflective essay and submit to their instructor to receive points toward their GeorgiaBEST certification. Certifications will be awarded at the CCI graduation in May 2014.
Each month, students are given different sets of soft skills and receive points based on how they use these skills during class, break time and observation by their instructors and staff. Each student has a portfolio (donated by Douglas County's Georgia Farm Bureau) in which their information is kept for post-secondary use.
The CCI is a collaboration of the Douglas County School System (DCSS), West Georgia Technical College (WGTC) and the Business Community through the Douglas County Chamber of Commerce.
The CCI is located at 4600 Timber Ridge Drive Building "D" Douglasville, Georgia 30135 on the campus of WGTC.
