Brighten Academy Is Finalist for 2014 GCSA Charter School of the Year

Douglasville's Brighten Academy is one of three schools that have been named finalists for the 2014 GCSA Charter School of the Year award.

Brighten AcademyOglethorpe Charter School & Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School have been named as finalists for the 2014 GCSA Charter School of the Year award.

The winning school will be announced at the Georgia Charter Schools Association’s First-Ever Charter Schools Leadership Conference, Friday, Jan. 31 at Lake Oconee Academy.

The winner receives a $50,000 grant from The Coca-Cola Foundation. The award was established to honor excellence in education throughout the public charter sector in Georgia. This is the third year of this partnership initiative between The Coca-Cola Foundation and the Georgia Charter Schools Association.

Last year’s Coca-Cola Foundation winner was Drew Charter School. The primary criteria for the winner included being in existence for at least five years and demonstrating academic excellence as measured by standardized achievement tests and operational sustainability and sound fiscal practices.
