Beloved School Employee Retires after 12 Years

Brenda Spain has worked for the Douglas County School System as the district's community relations specialist for about 12 and a half years and retired on Dec. 20 of this year.

"One of my favorite quotes," Spain told Patch in an email, "was written by Lillian Dickson and reads, 'Your life is like a coin. You can spend it any way you wish, but you can only spend it once.'"

"I have met so many people and had the distinct pleasure of working with this community and have truly enjoyed the relationships and friendships that were built. I have enjoyed spending a portion of my life being a member of the Douglas County School System family," she said. "I love my job and the people with whom I work; however, I realize it is time to move on to a different chapter in my life."

"I am a Christian and strive to live my life in such a way that people can see there is something different about me - my love and dedication to the Lord," Brenda said.
