AHS’ FBLA Members Attend Georgia Motivational Rally, Georgia National State Fair

Twenty members of the Alexander High School Chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) attended the Georgia FBLA Fall Motivational Rally at the Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter in Perry, Georgia on October 10, 2013. The Rally is the kickoff event that brings Georgia FBLA members together for information and to motivate students to be active and involved in their student organization at the local, state and even national levels. It is marketed
as an excellent tool in getting members excited about the FBLA year as well as recruiting new members.

The Motivational Rally was the largest FBLA conference in the state of Georgia with more than 9,000 members and advisors in attendance. FBLA members and advisers were also introduced to the 2013-2014 Georgia FBLA state officers and region officers. All members were encouraged to “Chart their Course,” the theme for Georgia FBLA 2013-2014.

The state officers disseminated dates of upcoming 2013-2014 activities, shared information about how students and chapters can be involved and encouraged members to be active.

Kevin Warzer, comedian and presenter for the general session, used humor and comedy to capture the participants’ attention, while delivering and sharing empowering leadership strategies. He emphasized that empowering members is the key to growing stronger high school chapters.

Since FBLA first introduced the concept of motivational rallies, FBLA has found that members’ attendance at these rallies has provided a launching pad for a successful and active year for the local chapter. In addition to the general session, one of the important components of the Fall Motivational
Rally is the competitive events program. The program offers students the chance to display their skills and test their knowledge in various subjects and areas. Although members did not participant in any competitive events at this year’s Rally, they will participate in other competitive events during the year.
After the Motivational Rally, members and advisors had the opportunity to spend a couple hours at FBLA Day at the Georgia National State Fair in Perry and to view some of the FBLA chapter entries being judged at the fair.
