Transportation Act Info on Display Today

There will be a public information meeting today regarding the Transportation Investment Act Local Discretionary Projects Program from 6 to 8 p.m., in the .

Members of the general public will be free to view draft project lists, draft project concept maps and provide public input via comment cards.

Residents can learn more about the July 31 vote to fund transportation improvements across metro Atlanta. Metro Atlanta Voter Education Network (MAVEN) speakers will be on hand.

Douglas County residents are also invited to join Tom Worthan and Harvey Persons by phone on June 5 to learn about the upcoming Regional Transportation Referendum on the ballot July 31.

Inspired by President Roosevelt’s “Fireside Chat” during World War II in which he detailed the progress of the war while citizens followed along at home using a world map, the modern-day “Wireside Chats” will connect local elected officials with residents of the region. During these telephone chats, which will take place between June 4 through 7 and June 13 and 14, residents can ask questions about the projects on the list and follow along using a regional map.

Worthan and Persons will field calls on June 5 at 6:15 p.m. “Mayor Persons and I look forward to speaking with potentially thousands of our friends and neighbors about the referendum,” said Worthan. “Our goal is to inform Douglas County residents about the projects that will impact them most.”

Residents are asked to register in advance to receive materials they can refer to during the call. The call will last about an hour. All questions will be answered, either live or as a follow-up email or phone call.
