Tea Party Brews Up Special Event

The "Defending Our Constitution" Rally will be held at Clinton Nature Preserve on Saturday, Oct. 27.

The Douglas County TEA Party invites the public to Clinton Nature Preserve on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. for a free family event to celebrate our Constitution and  the Rights it guarantees.

The event will feature several speakers such as keynote Phil Kent from FOX 5’s ‘The Georgia Gang’ and Jason Stubbs state director of ‘Georgia Students for Concealed Carry’ along with representatives from several local grassroots organizations.

There will also be candidates running for state and local office, as well as vendors such as Smart Girl Politics, Americans For Prosperity, and local crafters. 2011 Taste of Douglasville winner for BBQ, The Landmark Cafe, will be on site with their award winning BBQ and beverages for purchase.

Lewis Shaeffer, viral video YouTube sensation, will be singing the National Anthem and there will be a drawing held at the end of the event for a Glock 19 handgun. Tickets can be purchased at the event for $5 - sales are limited to 500 tickets so demand is sure to be high. You do not need to be present to win. Attendees will also enjoy live musical entertainment by The Roy Glen Key Band.

“This  election year will be a crucial one for all Americans," says organizer, Beth Martinez. "The country is on a dangerous path that could change the landscape of the America we know. The things that have made our country so great are at stake...individual freedoms, competition, and a government that works for the people."

The Douglas County TEA Party is a non-partisan group of concerned citizens whose main goal is to educate and encourage involvement in the political process.  The Douglas County Tea Party supports less government, more personal freedom & responsibility, and defending our Constitutional Rights.

The last TEA (Taxed Enough Already) Party event, held in June 2010, drew an estimated crowd of 1,500 to the Clinton Nature Preserve on Ephesus Church Road in Villa Rica.

Event organizer, Brenda Bohanan, feels confident that the October 27th event will have a similar attendance count as the previous event that featured former presidential candidate, Herman Cain.  "I am certain that there are as many today, if not more, who feel the need to get involved in stopping our government from the self-destructive path it seems intent on following."

The event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Clinton Nature Preserve on Ephesus Church Road in Villa Rica. Park has lawn seating only. Attendees should bring chairs or blankets.
