Tasered Minister Makes Plea to Council

Several protesters were outside before Tuesday's city council meeting and the chambers were filled with approximately 50 people interested in the night's proceedings.

"He tased me for no reason at all," Freeman said. "Not just one time but he did it twice. I'm a citizen here in this city and I will not tolerate no type of treatment like that.

"I'm angry because I did not derserve that type of treatment," he said. "And I think it's time now for something tobe done about it."

Mayor Mickey Thompson said he will direct City Manager Bill Osborne to report to the city council regarding the matter in two weeks.

The Officer involved in the incident has been placed on paid, administrative leave, per department policy in such an incident, Chief Chris Womack said.

Both Freeman and his son are being charged with disorderly conduct, as well as the son being charged with improper tag and improper address change on a driver's license.
