State of the Union Viewing Party

Douglas County Rep. Roger Bruce is scheduled to attend and moderate the viewing. The event is free and open to the public.

Representative Roger Bruce, who represents part of and part of Fulton Counties will hold a special viewing party of tonight's State of the Union address at J.R. Crickets, 5819 Campbellton Rd. SW Atlanta from 8:15 to 10:00 p.m.

President Barack Obama will present his annual State of the Union address to Congress and the nation tonight at 9 p.m.

The traditional evening speech will report on the condition of the nation and will allow the president to outline his legislative agenda and national priorities to Congress.

“President Barack Obama is working hard to tackle the nation’s challenges,” said Rep. Roger Bruce in a press release. “Especially its job crisis and slow-growing economy.”

The Georgia Democratic Caucus plans to place heavy emphasis on economic security for Georgians this legislative session.

“Georgia citizens need more access to startup monies and lending capitol from community banks,” said Bruce. “Small businesses are on the move, creating jobs that are putting people back to work.”

The Democratic legislators are also looking forward to hearing more about President Obama’s Affordable Care Act in his address on Tuesday. 

“The Affordable Care Act is desperately needed to ensure basic health services for all Georgians,” said Bruce. “These efforts work together with my HB 736 to stop the use of discretionary clauses in disability insurance contracts and the HB 311 Parent Protection Act, which will strengthen parent involvement in schools and also create a strong dependable workforce.”

Bruce is scheduled to attend and moderate the viewing. The event is free and open to the public.
