Senior Center Gets New Van

The Douglas County Woodie Fite Senior Center will be able to use a new $18,000 van that was purchased through the County's General Fund

The took ownership of a nearly-new Ford van on Tuesday that will be used by the for activities for its seniors. The $18,000 van was purchased through the County’s General Fund. Although slightly used, the van has a Ford-Certified 100,000-mile warranty.

Douglas County Commission Chairman Tom Worthan stated, “Our seniors need to get out and about to stay active, and the addition of this van to the Woodie Fite Senior Center will help us expand programs to keep our seniors energetic.”

Woodie Fite Senior Center Director Sharon Johnson stated that,The members and staff of the Center are very appreciative of the purchase of the van. The Board of Commissioners is so supportive of the Center and the efforts we make to serve the senior population of Douglas County. This van will enable us to plan trips for many of our clubs and classes.”
