Runoff Election Is Today

The runoff election for mayor between Harvey Persons and Rochelle Robinson will be held from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at all polling places within Douglasville. Neither candidate received a majority of the vote Nov. 8.

The runoff election for mayor between and will be held today from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at all polling places within Douglasville. Neither candidate received a majority of the vote on Nov. 8.

Laurie Fulton, Douglas County elections supervisor said there has been some confusion as to who can vote in this election.

"Anyone who was eligible to vote in the mayoral election is eligible to vote in this election," she said. "You did not have to vote in the election on Nov. 8 to be eligible to vote in the runoff."

In addition to all City precincts being open today for the runoff election, will be open for voting for the Special Election to fill the unexpired term of office for State Representative, District 68. Not everyone in this district is eligible to vote. For clarification, voters can call 770-920-7213.

During early voting, 56 ballots were mailed out and approximately 30 have been received. Those who voted in person, at the Courthouse, totaled 340 and 14 people voted in the District 68 Special Election.
