Robinson Responds to Commission's Bond Decision

Douglas County District 2 Commissioner Kelly Robinson issued a statement, via email, Tuesday about the Board of Commissioners' decision to delay a bond referendum.

"Today's action by the Board of Commissioners to delay a decision on the bond referendum under consideration is seen as a wise one. With the impending BOC retreat scheduled for next week, it only makes sense to have a comprehensive dialogue. The purpose of the retreat is to hold our annual budget deliberations involving setting the millage rate which can not be separated from the subject of bond choices on the table for the county's budget must be one in which any fiscal impact to the citizens must both preserve and improve the quality of life to the broader citizen base not just government workers.

"I must emphasize I do not agree with the notion that our decision on the millage rate and associated bond considerations is based upon whether we have a county-wide election for one is not related to the other - albeit a cost of doing business as was the jail referendum. Humbly, in an ideal world, I would have hoped to not have to replace a constitutional officer seat so shortly after being filled."
