Voting Update: Delay Voting if Your Voting Location is an Elementary School

Local elementary schools are letting children out early today, at noon.

Douglas County voters who vote at an elementary school may want to avoid voting around the noon time frame today because the schools are letting students out at noon today. For example, at 12:09 there is quite a long line of cars at trying to pick up children. The parking situation won't allow cars to simply get in and out and vote. The wait time is at least 20 minutes.

Otherwise, inside the school's gymnasium, Polling Manager Gail Smith said things have been going smooth so far today. There has been a steady stream of people since 7 a.m., ranging from two to ten voters at a time. The Bill Arp voting location has 10 touch-screen voting machines.

"There's no reason not to come out today," she said. "It's a pretty day outside and there's no wait for a machine."
