Martin Named Director of County Information Services

Dave Stewart tapped for deputy director of information services for the County.

The Douglas County Board of Commissioners is proud to announce that Russ Martin has been appointed Director of Information Services for the County.  The Information Services Department operates, maintains and manages the computer system for all County departments and programs, including the network, desktop computers, software, and computer peripherals.

Martin has been in the computer technology field since 1999, beginning as an analyst at a help desk for an Atlanta technology company. His help desk success rate helped to move him to increasingly higher managerial positions, and his duties diversified into centralizing computer systems and software.  He progressively became Technical Operations Manager, Network Operations Center Manager, and Director of Technology Operations for a major travel industry firm before coming to Douglas County.

His extensive technical skills and his first-person desk help experience are what were attractive to Douglas County when the search was conducted to fill the position created by the resignation of Mike Amato. Martin’s first day of employment was Jan. 6. He will oversee a department of eight employees and operations throughout County government.
