Interim DA Fires 4 Staffers Amid Investigation Into Department

Brian Fortner: Citizens deserve DA's Office "they can believe in."

Four Douglas County employees have been fired, the county’s acting district attorney announced Monday.

Saying, “The citizens of this county deserve a District Attorney’s Office they can believe in,” acting DA Brian Fortner said office manager Tammie Agan, legal aids Wendy Agan and Cindy Foran, and public information officer Andrew Agan were all fired. None of them had been accused of wrongdoing, WSB-TV reported.

The firings, Fortner said, were made to clear the “cloud of suspicion” over the DA’s Office. Former DA David McDade retired from office last week amid a GBI investigation into nepotism and financial expenditures in the department.

Fortner, who seek election for the position, said the Georgia Attorney General's Office intends to take further action in the case, but not against "anyone employed in our office as of today," WSB reported
