Gravley Commends Governor for Signing Medical Identity Fraud Bill

The state representative, who serves parts of western Douglas County and southern Paulding County, sponsored the senate bill in the Georgia House.

The following release was submitted by State Rep. Micah Gravley.

State Rep. Micah Gravley, R-Douglasville, today commended Gov. Nathan Deal for signing Senate Bill 170 into law. This bill amends current Georgia identity fraud laws to include medical identity fraud for jurisdiction and prosecution purposes. It will take effect on July 1.

“I am proud to join Governor Deal as we stand up for all Georgians who may fall victim to medical identify fraud, and I commend him for his leadership on this important issue,” Gravley said in a release Friday. “This type of fraud drives up healthcare costs for all residents of our state, and Senate Bill 170 is a vital step in addressing this deception by providing vital citizen protections and a clear avenue for swift justice to be served.”
