Early Voting Begins

Early voting for the elections in Douglas County, the City of Douglasville, and the City of Villa Rica (Douglas County portion) began today.

Early voting will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday through Nov. 1. The November Election includes the Special Election for the Clerk of Superior Court, and the regular election of City Council members in Douglasville (Ward 1 - Ward 2, Post 1 - and Ward 3) and Villa Rica (Ward 4 - Ward 5).

Registered voters may early vote for any reason - even if the voter is going to be local on Election Day. To be able to vote, persons must already be registered and must show photo identification. On Election Day, some City of Douglasville voters will have to go to two different precincts to be able to vote in both the Special Election for Clerk of Superior Court and the regular election for Douglasville City Council members.

Voters should consult their precinct cards for their locations or visit www.sos.ga.gov/mvp, enter the requested information and determine their polling place locations. Early voting is done in one location.

On Election Day, voters in four precincts have a new polling place:

• Beulah Elementary School voters will now vote at Beulah Baptist Church (4031 Bankhead Highway)

• Fairplay Middle School voters will now vote at the Day Star Tabernacle Gymnasium (8199 Ga. Hwy. 166)

• Bill Arp Elementary School voters will now vote at Prays Mill Baptist Church Gymnasium (4979 Ga. Hwy. 5)

• Annette Winn Elementary School voters will now vote at Lithia Springs First Baptist Church (3566 Veterans Memorial Highway).

Affected voters should have received revised precinct cards in the mail within the past few days alerting them to the polling place location changes. The Douglas County Courthouse is located at 8700 Hospital Drive, Douglasville, Georgia 30134.
