Early Vote Numbers Lower; Today's Vote Going Smoothly
Douglas County Elections Supervisor Laurie Fulton said 45 percent of the county's active voters have already voted. That number is down from four years ago when 54 percent early voted.
Douglas County Elections Supervisor Laurie Fulton said 45 percent of the county's active voters have already voted. That number is down from four years ago when 54 percent early voted. However, four years ago voters had six weeks to early vote and this year they only had three weeks plus one Saturday.
Alice Shapiro was in line at about 10 a.m. at Bill Arp Elementary and only waited 10 minutes. She voted for Sunday Sales and said, "Everybody should go have a drink!"
Nycole Jarrett and son Owen, 6, just voted at the Old Douglas County Courthouse. Owen said they voted for Barrack Obama. "Both candidates are good but Barrack is closer to our beliefs," said Nycole.

Sherry Hughes just voted at the Old Douglas County Courthouse and said the wait was "15 minutes tops." She said there was a separate line for Douglasville folks to vote on Sunday alcohol Sales. "My only complaint was that there was no sign for that," she said. Hughes said she parked in Douglasville's new, free, parking garage, walked to vote and then walked to work at the Irish Bred Pub. "I love it," she said.
Linda Mow and Lonnie Harris were waving signs in front of the Douglas County Courthouse earlier today. They are voting for Kimberly Alexander in the Georgia House District 66 race, "because she's fighting for our community," Linda said. "She's a native of this community."
