Duralee Lane, Dorris Rd. Ribbon Cutting

The Douglas County Board of Commissioners has scheduled the roadway's ribbon-cutting for today at 11 a.m., at the western end of the project/intersection with Dorris Road.

The work on the Duralee Lane Extension Project is substantially complete and the has scheduled the roadway’s ribbon-cutting for today at 11 a.m., at the western end of the project/intersection with Dorris Road. The new extension will connect Fairburn Road to the Douglas County Courthouse campus, providing a new and more convenient access for citizens from the eastern part of the County.

The $1.5 million project was constructed by Blount Construction Company, Inc., and was completed ahead of schedule. The new extension begins at the Fairburn Road/Duralee Lane intersection and goes west for 0.6 miles to Dorris Road, coming out immediately adjacent to the County’s Multimodal Transportation Center. The project is being paid with funds from the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority, and managed by the Douglas County Department of Transportation.

There will be no formal program for the ribbon-cutting, just a celebration of the project’s completion, with the ribbon being cut by the Board of Commissioners.  The Commissioners will then ride a GRTA Xpress bus the length of the new roadway to try it out.  The new roadway will be used by (Georgia Regional Transportation Authority) buses, as well as general traffic, to relieve some traffic congestion on Fairburn Road and Hospital Drive. The Public is invited to the ribbon-cutting and to ride the bus along the new road.
