Some Postal Operations to Relocate

Both Douglasville post offices will remain open but 10 U.S. Postal Service workers and the processing operation will be relocated.

There will be no loss of jobs when postal operations at the relocate to Atlanta's main post office in Hapeville, sometime after May 15, Michael Miles said, communications manager of the Atlanta District for the U.S. Post Office.

Some postal operations in Cartersville and Acworth will also be relocated to the Hapeville location, while processing centers in Athens and Marietta will be consolidated into the Duluth location.

"Ten employees from Douglasville will be moved but because of union agreements, the post office will find employment opportunities for them in other locations," Miles said. "The average customer doesn't even know those employees are there. There will be no change in retail operations.
