Douglasville City Council Meets Today

The council's special-called meeting at 9 a.m. will include discussion of street closings for the Veteran's Day parade.

A.  Item 20-11-53 - Authorize the closing of Spring Street to through traffic between Price Avenue and Bowden Street during construction of the City of Douglasville’s new Downtown Conference Center.

B.  Item 20-11-54 - Authorize the closing of Selman Circle to through traffic between Campbellton Street and Selman Drive from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, November 11, 2011, and authorize the annual Veterans Day parade to be held on City of Douglasville streets from Douglas County High School through the downtown area.

5. Community & Economic Development Committee - Chairman John Schildroth

A. Item 21-11-50 - Authorize the Mayor to sign an agreement with the low bidder for asbestos abatement in the two structures owned by the City of Douglasville on the site of the planned new Downtown Conference Center across Church Street from City Hall and the current Downtown Conference Center, so these two buildings can be demolished.
