Douglas Could Lift Ban on Guns in Parks

A public hearing on the matter is scheduled for Aug. 20.

County Attorney Ken Bernard proposes that commissioners lift the ban on guns at parks, according to the Douglas County Sentinel.

A state law passed in 2008 makes it lawful to carry firearms in all parks, and James Camp of GeorgiaCarry.org successfully sued Coweta County that same year over an ordinance that banned guns in parks, according to the Sentinel.

That lawsuit is one of the reasons Bernard is proposing an update to Douglas' ordinance.
