County Declares Nov. 3 as Retired Educators Day

The proper education of our children ensures the future of our Nation. This education is entrusted to teachers who, next to parents, most probably have the most influence on children and guide them toward success.

Teachers will tell others that their profession is a calling and that they take seriously the task set before them. Most teachers spend their whole adult lives in this career field, and when they retire, they often remain involved in schools and other educational pursuits to the benefit of students.

These retired educators donate thousands of hours of volunteer service, and Georgia Governor Nathan Deal and the Douglas County Board of Commissioners have both declared Sunday, Nov. 3 State and Douglas County, respectively, to recognize and honor these retired teachers who continue to influence our youth in a positive way.
