Councilman Miller Runs for Mayor

Miller cites growing small businesses and cooperation between city and county governments as major emphasis points.

City Councilman Terry Miller, Ward 5, Post 2, has officially announced today his intent to run for mayor of Douglasville in the election on Nov. 8. Miller will be running against current announced candidates Councilman Roy Mims, and Ron Wilson. Current Mayor Mickey Thompson announced he will not seek re-election during his State of the City address on Jan. 18.

“I’m running for those who are hoping for change, for a new direction,” Miller said, when asked why he's running. “I know I can provide that. I will put a new emphasis on growing small businesses, not at the expense of chasing pipe dreams with bigger businesses."

Even though unannounced at the time, Miller earned the most votes in a poll conducted by Douglasville Patch from April 29 to May 6. Read complete story here. Miller captured 32 of the 70 votes cast, given the scenario of Thompson not running for re-election. Robinson earned 15 votes in that poll, with Mims collecting 9 votes and Wilson earning 7.
