Career Labs to Visit Libraries

and the Atlanta Regional Commission announce that the ARC Workforce Board’s Mobile Career Lab will be at the Lithia Springs and on Thursdays to aid residents to provide assistance in job readiness and job search activities.

The Mobile Career Lab will be at the Lithia Springs Library, 7100 Turner Drive, on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon, and at the Dog River Library, 6100 Georgia Highway 5, on Thursdays from 1:30 to 4 p.m. The services of the Lab are free and open to any Douglas County resident aged 16 and over.

Services offered by the Career Lab include assistance in career planning; information about training opportunities; access to computer workstations, photocopying and printing; use of resource materials for job search and career guidelines; and career assessments to learn about jobs that are a good fit.  Residents also can conduct an on-line job search; get help with resume and cover letter development; and take on-line tutorials.

The Mobile Career Lab also provides workforce solutions for businesses.  Businesses may use the mobile unit for recruiting, pre-employment screening, interviewing and training.

The Mobile Career Lab is a 13-station state-of-the-art fully accessible computer lab. The unit offers a full array of services and as a private interview room as well as the option of dividing the classroom area into two separate rooms. The instructor’s workstation is connected to a 42-inch plasma television with Smart Board technology for presentations and training.

Douglas County Commission Chairman Tom Worthan, who serves on the Atlanta Regional Commission Board, stated that “the ARC Mobile Career Lab is another effort we are making to help Douglas County residents get any help they may need in searching for and landing a job.  We are pleased that this state-of-the-art facility will regularly be coming to our Lithia Springs and Dog River Libraries to aid our citizens.”
