Miller said it wasn't an easy choice to back Persons. "I like both candidates personally," he said. "Both are decent people. I talked with both candidates extensively. I also had an option of not supporting anyone but my one concern was all of the people who told me not to walk away and to stay in public service.

"I think you get what you see with Harvey," Miller said. "I don't agree with everything he supports but I respect his decisions. Harvey is more in line with what I am in line with. But no matter who gets elected I intend to hold their feet to the fire for what's best for the community."

"To me, voters have to chose who has the ability to make the tough decisions," Wilson said. "They should be able to stand on their own two feet and not be influenced by outside organizations."

Wilson is referring to the tough decisions he sees coming with the City's income on the decline due to less money collected in property and hotel/motel taxes, while new bill payments will have to be made on the new jail and convention center.

"I'm surprised," Robinson said about both former candidates supporting her opponent. "I'm disappointed, but I think the voters are smart enough to vote for the best person. I am the leader and I think people will follow me."

Persons said there won't be any more candidate forums and that he plans to keep going door to door to greet people and get his message out.
