A Thanksgiving Message from Rep. Gravely

State Representative Micah Gravley sends constituents a Thanksgiving message in this letter to the editor.

“Perhaps it takes a purer faith to praise God for unrealized blessings than for those we once enjoyed or those we enjoy now.”  - A.W. Tozer

What a blessing it is to have this holiday to spend with friends and loved ones, to cherish what we have and to come together and reflect upon what has hopefully been a year of service, gratitude, and joy. For our family, this has been an especially amazing year as you have given me the opportunity to serve you in the Georgia Legislature. Thus far, it has been a tremendous blessing in a life during which I have received many, and I am truly thankful for each and every one of you.

Thanksgiving is one of the most joyous holidays we celebrate in America. It is a time to cherish our past, to be content with the blessings we enjoy today, and to be hopeful for what the future holds. But what we often forget is our need to be thankful in times of tribulation. Each one of us surely has faced our share of difficulties this year, and to reflect on those hardships and give thanks for the courage to weather our storms is the most important form of gratitude that we can express. The Bible reminds us of this in Philippians 4:6-8:

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things."

This Thanksgiving, I hope that you have a full heart and much to be grateful for and that you rejoice in these blessings and savor the company of your loved ones. May this love and gratitude sustain you in all that you do.  Happy Thanksgiving and may God Bless you and your family.

Thank you for allowing me the honor of serving as your representative.
