3-2 Vote Means 23.74% Higher Property Taxes for Douglas County Residents

Those who voted for the increase included Chairman Tom Worthan, Commissioners Ann Jones Guider and Mike Mulcare, while Commissioners Henry Mitchell and Kelly Robinson, voted against the tax increase.

The Douglas County Board of Commissioners voted Tuesday to increase county property taxes by 23.74 percent or about $117 per average homeowner, according to the Douglas County Sentinel.  The vote means an increase the millage rate from 9.9 mills to 12.25 mills.

Those who voted for the increase included Chairman Tom Worthan, Commissioners Ann Jones Guider (District 4) and Mike Mulcare (District 3), while District 1 and 2 Commissioners, Henry Mitchell and Kelly Robinson, both Democrats, voted against the tax increase. 

About 37 residents spoke out against the increase during recent public hearings, the newspaper reported.
