A Villa Rica woman arrested on traffic charges had several much more serious charges added when she was being booked into the Douglas County jail.
According to a posting on the sheriff’s office website, Amber Burke was arrested early in the morning on June 3 on a traffic stop.
“Prior to being brought into jail, deputies asked her if she had any contraband on her; she assured them she didn’t,” the post stated. “It turns out that she was being less than truthful.”
She was caught with marijuana and methamphetamine during the booking process.
She was charged with bringing drugs across a jail guard line, possession of marijuana, possession of a schedule I controlled substance, possession of a schedule II controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of a schedule IV controlled substance.
She is being held on a $24,000 bond.
