Today Starts Sheriff's Crack Down on Road Safety

The Douglas County Sheriff's Department will be cracking down on safe driving throughout the county, starting today.

Sheriff Phil Miller has announced an all-out effort to reduce the speeds and increase the safety of travelers on our county roads and state highways for the Thanksgiving holidays.

According to the Sheriff's Facebook page, "We will begin on Monday, Nov. 25 and continue thru outΒ the holiday travel season for 2013. This concentrated effort will be a crackdown on impaired driving, speeders, and other driving offenses such as tailgating, texting and any other traffic laws that threaten the safety of our travelling motorists in Douglas County."

"The crackdown will consist of concentrated laser and radar on the highways, sobriety check points, and road checks for compliance with all child safety seat laws," continues the post.Β "Please have a happy, and safe, holiday travel season!"
