Teen Arrested, Expelled for Bringing Knife to School

New Manchester High School student Talmaj Mitchell, 18, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds.
His mother told WSBTV that her son has a learning disability and took the "large knife to school to defend himself against bullies."
After being released from the Douglas County Jail on $1,000 bond, Mitchell told WSBTV, "I was just trying to make a statement. I was trying to tell them just leave me alone and everything. I had no intention on using it."
According to the report, he said the ninth-grader said students would take his video games, his tennis shoes and make fun of his disability.

The mother told WSBTV that her son has been expelled for the rest of the year.
