Sheriff: Evidence Links Woman to Wheeler Murder Scene

On June 19, a Douglas sheriff's deputy found his father stabbed to death in the family's Chattahoochee Drive home.

A footprint found at the home of murdered businessman Jerry Wheeler matched Sahara Tabriz Fakhir's footprint, Douglas County Sheriff Phil Miller and Lt. Bruce Ferguson told the Douglas County Sentinel.

Fakhir is the 32-year-old Douglasville woman accused of killing Wheeler, the 66-year-old father of Douglas County Sheriff's Office Deputy Michael Wheeler.

A hearing is scheduled for Aug. 8, according to the Sentinel.

During an initial appearance before Douglas County Superior Court Judge Robert J. James on Thursday, Fakhir demanded that a judge release her, according to WSB-TV.

"If you do not release me," Fakhir said, "Allah will have vengeance on you."

On June 19, Dep. Wheeler found his father stabbed to death in the family's Chattahoochee Drive home, Douglas County Chief Deputy Stan Copeland told the Sentinel and WSB-TV.

It was the first homicide in Douglas County this year.

Fakhir, who is Muslim, told court officials that Allah was her lawyer and said the courthouse was cursed, according to WSB-TV.
