Repeat Offender Sentenced 30 Years for Multiple Robberies

A nine-time convicted felon was caught after robbing a local grocery store driving a stolen vehicle was sentenced to 30 years following his conviction this week, according to Douglas County District Attorney David McDade.

Sean Anthony Badilishamwalimu, 44, of Atlanta received a 30-year sentence earlier this week from Chief Superior Court Judge Robert J. James after entering a guilty plea to charges of robbery by force, robbery by sudden snatching, theft by shoplifting, theft by taking and battery. The defendant was sentenced as a repeat offender, which means the first 12 years of his 30-year term will be served behind bars. He was also banished from Douglas and Cobb County.

“This is really simple to me. Looking at his record makes it real clear he just doesn’t get it, and the only way to stop him is to lock him up and throw away the key,” said McDade. “His previous cases were in other jurisdictions and maybe if we had gotten a hold on him earlier, he might have seen the light. Now, whatever he sees will be from behind bars for a long, long time.”

According to Assistant District Attorney Steve Knittel, Badilishamwalimu’s criminal history stretches over four decades, the first occurring in 1987. A majority of his convictions are related to theft and drugs. Badilishamwalimu’s latest conviction occurred earlier this year on April 17, when a store manager at the Austell Food Depot saw the defendant making his way towards the exit with stolen grooming items in a black plastic bag. The manager tried to stop Badilishamwalimu, but was met with a punch that knocked him to the ground.

Trying to find a way to escape, the defendant ran into the parking lot and then fled in a stolen car. He was apprehended several hours later by Cobb County officials. Inside the vehicle, authorities found grooming items that matched the stolen merchandise from Food Depot. Two witnesses inside the grocery store also identified Badilishamwalimu out of a photo lineup as the robber.

The Douglasville City Council members are repeat offenders. They repeatedly turned in bills for monies they were not entitled to receive, and received OUR TAX MONEY for unjust compensation.
Will they get 30 years each?

This man should have received HELP that he needed 4 decades ago when his charges began as a juvenile. Drug abuse is serious and when it starts as a child, obviously it will following into adulthood. WAKE UP JAMES AND MCDADE.

They said in the article his previous crimes happened in other jurisdictions. Sounds like he's getting what he needs/deserves from Douglas County's James and McDade to me.

Ms. Morgan, I know what the article said but I happen to have met this man many years ago and AS A CHILD he was introduced to hard drugs...and if you people had any common sense or compassion, you'd probably recogonize that your lovely justice system failed to give him the help he needed as a juvenile...had they, he may have turn out to be a better adult. Or, maybe the people of Douglas County and State of Georgia like paying to care for incarcerated people rather than rehabing them.

To Mr Bill Adams.....there is no such thing as a MODERN Christian. You are either a Christain or youRead More are not. While we as Christians love the sinner we are not to love the sin nor are we to back those sinners who are committing a sinful act. We should, however, with love in our hearts try to win their souls for God and preach what the Bible teaches. Which by the way, the Bible tells us it is wrong and a sin for a man to lie with a man.

I wonder how many gay teens were in that audience, who felt horror at that standing ovation? HowRead More many stood next to the parents who didn't know it wasn't a choice, who were standing and applauding next to a child who was already so emotionally torn up inside with the thought of telling these parents they were gay?? How many of these teens will commit suicide rather than tell these parents? Good move church, who is supposed to be preaching forgiveness, understanding and give support to the needy. Who decides what emotion is needy? Feeling gay, or thinking about getting a divorce, or losing your job and needing help? I am not gay, but I wholly believe in living, and let live, and helping where you can with no judgment! This church should be ashamed of itself! This is exactly why I don't go to church, and worship in my own way. They are all a bunch of hypocrites and should be ashamed of themselves.

Well said! I agree wholeheartedly. For those that want to look up the scripture, it's in LeviticusRead More 18:22 and 20:13. God spells it out perfectly what you are and are not supposed to do. If God is against it, man should be against it too.
