All three girls are teens in the 13-to 15-year-old age range and are from Litha Springs.

Update at 2:23 p.m.:

The three teens hit by a possible drunk driver are: Carleece Brown, 13, taken to Scottish Rite with a broken ankle; Kendra Taylor, taken to Grady with head trauma, condition critical; and Shania Willis, taken to Egleston with head trauma, condition critical (the most seriously injured), Gordy Wright said in an email, spokesman for the Georgia State Patrol.

All are teens in the 13-to 15-year-old age range and are from Litha Springs.

Original story:

Three juvenile girls were hit by a possible drunk driver as they walked along Maxham Road in the early morning hours of today, authorities said.

The names and ages of the girls that were hit, one seriously, around 1:30 a.m. were not immediately available.

One girl was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, one to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston and the third was treated locally, according to the Georgia Highway Patrol and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. One of the girls was in serious condition.

Authorities said the girls were on the way to a nearby store.

The driver, 22-year-old Crystal Marshall of Chicago, was arrested and charged with serious injury by vehicle, driving under the influence, driving too fast for conditions, having slick tires and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. She was taken to the Douglas County Jail.

They need to arrest the parents for letting that young of age by out walking that time of the night, I'm assuming they were not accompanied by an adult.

I wonder if this is some new kind of dare with the young girls, because today at around noon three 13-15 year old girls ran straight across hwy 5 at the Stewart Mill Parkway intersection. They went against the light. I saw them on the opposite side of the road and the driver beside me and I started slowing down. These girls momentarily slowed down in the middle and then ran right in front of us. Had we not seen them we would have hit them at 45 miles an hour. They got to the other side giggling and carrying on. I just find it odd that two similar events would take place on the same day.
