Police: Man Used Tree in Cash Grab

Douglasville's Brian Stephen Meadows is being held without bail, thanks to Hero the police dog.

Douglasville resident Brian Stephen Meadows is after say he tried to use a tree to smash open two stolen cash registers.

One cash register held $216, and the other was empty, The Marietta Daily Journal reported.

Meadows, 42, who lives in the 400 block of Braxton Drive, has been jailed since the morning of April 9 on charges of burglary, two counts of theft by taking and three counts of second-degree criminal damage to property, all felonies, and misdemeanor charges of simple battery, theft by taking, obstruction of an officer, driving with a revoked or suspended license, and possession of a drug-related object (a crack pipe), according to booking records.

He smashed the glass door at the at 2671 Veterans Memorial Hwy. about 11:30 p.m. April 8, grabbed the cash registers and $40 worth of tobacco products, and crossed the street to slam the registers against a tree to open them, the MDJ said.

After a neighbor called 911 and fought with Meadows, he ran off into the woods, and a deputy with caught Meadows behind , the MDJ said.
