One Sheriff's Investigator Puts a Dent in Crime, Arresting 4 Suspects in 2 Cases

Douglas County Sheriff's Department Investigator Matt Gray has had a busy October, arresting four suspected burglars and recovering several stolen items, including a Honda generator.

The Honda generator was reported stolen on Oct. 6, from 2384 Parke Ave., according to the Sheriff's Facebook page. Gray, of the property crimes division, headed an investigation that found Larry Baskin, 29, of Douglasville, was responsible for the theft. Baskin was arrested on Oct. 10 and the generator was returned to the owner.

According to Douglas County arrest records, Baskin is currently in jail, being held on $8,000 bond.

In an unrelated case, on Oct. 5, several items were reported stolen from 2238 Chestnut Log Loop. Gray investigated the case, where two laptop computers, a digital camera and a Wii game system were missing.

The investigation proved that three suspects were involved in this case, according to a report on the Sheriff's Facebook page. They were identified as Cartis Woods, 19, of Lithia Springs; Tyler Robertson, 19, of Douglasville and John Allen, 20, of Douglasville.

Woods was arrested on Oct. 10 and was released on $1,000 bond. Robertson was arrested on Oct. 12 and is being held on no bond. John Allen was arrested on Oct. 23 and was released on $2,000 bond.

Some items have been recovered in this case and will be returned to the victim.
