Meth Found During I-20 Stop

Here's a few things happening with the Douglas County Sheriff's Department this week.

Meth found at traffic stop

  • On Friday morning, around 1 a.m., members of the F.I.N.D. Unit made a traffic stop on I-20 near South Baggett Rd. A K-9 alerted on the vehicle and a search revealed 2.1 ounces of Crystal Meth hidden behind the rear passenger seat and the following was hidden behind the glove box: 2 grams of powder Meth, four grams of Marijuana, and four Xanax bars. David Sikes (34yoa) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Jonathan Nichols (40yoa) of Round Rock, Texas were arrested w/o incident. Investigation revealed the items were purchased in the Metro Atlanta area and were destined for Alabama.

Recovered property

  • The received a report of stolen farm equipment, tools and a Kubota utility vehicle from a residence on W. Liberty Rd. in Villa Rica on April 10. A John Deere tractor, Sears 30 gallon air compressor (both photos attached), and a Craftsman table saw have been recovered from a wooded area on the Douglas–Carroll County line on W. Liberty Rd. The Kubota vehicle and two Stihl chainsaws are still missing. Anyone who may have information regarding this incident, please call Investigator Dale Kelley at 770-920-4903.

  • Terrence Thomas, a Senior at has been awarded a scholarship to West Point Military Academy. There were twenty nine thousand applications and Terrence is one of fifteen hundred accepted. At Alexander High School he holds the rank of Lt. Colonel in the JR. ROTC program. Of his many accolades at school, and in the community he also is the highest ranking Explorer at the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is very proud of Terrence and wish him the best.

Missing something from your carport?

  • On April 3, DCSO arrested John Barry Wilson for multiple incidents of theft occurring from carports of houses in the N. Burnt Hickory, Newman Ellis and Big B Rd. areas. He was generally stealing tools and lawn equipment that had been stored on the carports. The majority of the property has been placed but there are instances where homeowners may not be aware that their property is missing and therefore may not have reported a theft. If you should check your carport and find missing equipment, please contact Inv. Dale Kelley at 770-920-4903. You will need to provide a description of the missing equipment and serial numbers if available.
