Man Fakes Attack, Escapes Ambulance

Cory James Slaughter eluded capture for most of the night but was caught after a lengthy track by Lt. Michael Barnhill, of the Sheriff's K-9 Unit, and his partner Sgt. Ace.

Cory James Slaughter, 20, faked an asthma attack during a traffic stop and jumped out of an ambulance while traveling to the hospital, according to the Douglas County Sentinel.

Slaughter was charged with DUI, driving while license suspended, willful interference with emergency medical personnel, obstruction of law enforcement officer, possession of alcohol by a person underage and escape, according to Douglas County Sheriff's arrest records.

He is being held in the Douglas County jail, no bond has been set yet.

The Sentinel reported that a deputy stopped Slaughter during a traffic stop near Thornton and Maxham roads at about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday after noticing Slaughter driving erratically, according to Maj. Tommy Wheeler.

Slaughter eluded capture for most of the night but was spotted running into a wooded area, according to the Sheriff's K-9 Facebook page. He was caught at about 5 a.m., after a lengthy track by Lt. Michael Barnhill, of the Sheriff's K-9 Unit, and his partner Sgt. Ace.
