Man Accused of Online Bomb Threat Was 'Just Playing Around'

Glynn Ashlin Bonner confessed to posting threat on chat site used by students at New Manchester High School.

Douglas County Sheriff’s investigators arrested a 23-year-old man for posting a bomb threat on an Internet chat site that caused the evacuation of New Manchester High School last week.

He said he was “just playing around,” according to the sheriff’s office.

Glynn Ashlin Bonner of Douglasville was arrested Friday, May 2, and charged with terroristic threats, disruption of a public school and the illegal use of a computer to cause a false alarm.

Bonner is a 2009 graduate of Chapel Hill High School in Douglas County.

Bonner is accused of posting a threat April 23 online on a chat site that was used by a large number of  students. The threat stated New Manchester was going to “Blow up at 12:00,” according to the sheriff’s department.

“Bonner gave a full confession to Investigators and stated that he was just playing around,” the agency said in a press release.

He will appear in front of a Magistrate judge on Monday, May 5.
