Lithia Springs Man Dies in Collision

A Lithia Springs man died Friday when the vehicle he was driving was struck by a black 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe on Veterans Memorial Highway, according to a report from the Cobb County Department of Public Safety.

Gary Henderson, 52, was driving a silver 2005 Honda Civic and reportedly trying to make a left turn onto Veterans Memorial Highway from Kitchens Road when he turned into the path of a black the Tahoe which was travelling eastbound on Veterans Memorial Highway.

Henderson was transported by ambulance to Wellstar South Cobb Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

After the front of the Chevrolet struck the driver’s side door of the Honda, both vehicles came to an uncontrolled stop in the westbound lanes of Veterans Memorial Highway.

The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is investigating the crash.

The driver of the Chevrolet has been identified as 26 year old Gerald Garba of Atlanta. Garba was not injured in the collision.

No traffic charges are expected to be filed in this fatality crash and anyone with information about it is asked to call 770-499-3987.
