Inmate's Death 'Not Suspicious,' Name Released

Joe Dent was identified as the inmate who died in jail on Wednesday. Douglas County Coroner Randy Daniel said although the autopsy is not back yet, the death was from natural causes and not suspicious.

Joe Dent, 53, was identified as the inmate who died in the Douglas County Jail on Wednesday. Douglas County Coroner Randy Daniel said although the autopsy is not back yet, the death was from natural causes and not suspicious.

Daniel said Dent weighed about 400 pounds and had a pacemaker. He also had chronic kidney disorder and was diabetic.

Because he died in custody, an autopsy is mandated by the State, Daniel said, and although the results may not be known for several weeks, the determination will be heart-failure related. "He was in bad shape," Daniel said.

They said Rodney Graham died of drug detox but the drug test showed he was drug free. They claimed Rodney died of "natural causes" also. Tommy E. Turpen, Sr. died in the jail in 2008. The family claimed "denial of medical care" prescribed by a Dr.

Don't have kidney disease and go to jail in Douglas County. That's what killed Rodney Graham too.

I like how they said that the cause of death would be heart related before the autopsy is even out... I guess the judicial system is psychic as well as corrupt.

How about staying out of jail - sick or not....? Our tax money is spent on taking care of sick CRIMINALS instead of paying our hard-working law enforcement better than the PATHETIC income they are paid to put their lives on the line every day - not only on patrol but in the jail as well!

No Bubba, An Investigator was present at the autopsy. The Doctor who performed the autopsy told the Investigator that the inmate died as a result of congestive heart failure. He said the heart was surrounded by fluid which resulted in the mans death.
