Homicide Charge Added After Weekend Fatality of EMT

Jason Strickland had just gotten off work at Grady Hospital when his motorcycle was hit.

Francisco Ferrer, 33, from Dallas is being charged with 37, from Bremen, which occured Sunday in Douglas County on Interstate 20.

Ferrer, was traveling west on Inerstate 20 when his Honda Element struck Stickland's Harley Davidson from behind, said Gordy Wright, a spokesman for the Georgia State Patrol.

The impact ejected Strickland from the motorcycle and into the center travel lane, where he was hit by a truck being driven by Joseph Edward Marrett, 66, from Conyers. Strickland was killed, but there were no other injuries. Marrett is not being charged.
