Hit-and-Run Vehicle Sought by Police

The police are asking residents to be on the lookout for a Maroon 1997-1998 Buick Regal or Century, will have a broken passenger side mirror and possible passenger side or front end damage.

The Douglas County/Douglasville Police Department Major Case Unit is investigating a hit-and-run accident involving the death of a pedestrian that occurred at the intersection of Fairburn Road and Sunset Drive in Douglasville on Saturday, according to the Douglasville Police Department's Facebook page.

The vehicle was traveling north on Fairburn Road, at approximately 10:15 p.m., towards Interstate 20.

Officials told the Douglas County Sentinel Gary Latimer, 41, of Villa Rica, who had bonded out of Douglasville Police custody was walking away from the safety complex when a vehicle hit him. Latimer was admitted to Grady Memorial Hospital, and placed in the intensive care unit until Douglas County Coroner Randy Daniel pronounced him dead at 1:03 p.m. Tuesday.
