Hide and Seek with Police Fails

Brenton Dale Chase, 22, ofΒ  Whitesburg, and Rodney Swan, 41, of Villa Rica, will appear before a Douglas County Magistrate judge today after being charged with burglary of car parts Wednesday night.

Just after noon Wednesday, deputies were dispatched to a burglary in progress at 4198 Highway 5. The homeowner caught two white men in his automotive workshop and they were in the act of stealing car parts.

They had already loaded up a pick up truck and a large car trailer with several automotive parts, including engines, engine parts and body parts. The homeowner confronted the men and they both fled on foot.

Several deputies were working in the area on another case and were able to set up a good perimeter in an effort to apprehend the two burglary suspects. Within minutes of their arrival, one of the men was caught hiding in a drainage pipe near the crime scene. The second man continued to flee on foot but was ultimately apprehended as well.
