Burglaries Solved

  • The started receiving a number of burglary and attempted burglary reports in the Annewakee Falls and Trails neighborhood starting on March 26 through April 22. Through a series of investigations by the Douglas County Criminal Investigations division and the efforts and cooperation of the citizens and home owners association the Sheriff's Department was able to make three arrests in connection with the burglaries. This agency was able to clear / solve a total of nine cases and recovered a large amount of the stolen property to return to the victims of these crimes. The arrests included one juvenile and two adults. The two adults are identified as Taylor Blanch and David Worrell, both of Douglasville. The investigation is still ongoing and more arrests are anticipated in the near future.

Loaded Weapon Found on I-20 Stop

  • On Monday, April 23, members of the FIND Unit made a traffic stop on I-20. While speaking with the driver on the side of the highway, the Deputy noticed the subject was armed with a .45 caliber pistol. This weapon was tucked into his waistband, was not in a holster, and was loaded with 10 rounds of Ammo with one round in the chamber. It was determined that the driver, Ladarius Durr, 24 of Centerpoint, AL, did not have a weapons permit and was a convicted felon having been convicted of robbery in Jefferson County, AL. Durr was taken into custody without incident.

  • The Douglas County Sheriff's Office has added a new service which will allow anyone interested in posting a cash bond to do so from the convenience of their home. The public can simply visit www.CashBondOnline.com from their computer or contact them by phone at 1-888-726-6301. From the website, you learn if an inmate has a cash bond and the total amount of that bond. Posting their bond is as simple as providing your credit card information. CashBondOnline.com will then contact the Douglas County Jail to let them know that the bond has been paid.
