Bonds Set In Runaway Teen Case

Luis De La Cruz, 19, of Mableton, 22-year-old Christopher Joe Miranda and Joe Laredo, 20, all had bond hearings Wednesday, and the judge set bonds, despite pleas from the family of that she may have been targeted for human trafficking and being sold for sex, the reported.

“We can’t hold them in jail forever waiting to see if more charges are filed," said Magistrate Judge Susan Camp. "We will set bond on what they have been charged with today. If more charges are filed, they can be arrested and we will see them again, I suppose.”

The total bond was $6,750 for , which included $2,000 for a fake social security card, $1,500 for driving without a license, and $1,250 for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. each had a total bond of $2,500, with $1,250 each on charges of contributing to the delinquency and interfering with child custody.

The judge had stern warnings for all three men. “Don’t ever get involved with a young person like this again,” said Camp. "You see now the kind of trouble it can cause you. Don’t go anywhere. There may be more charges. I’m just glad she was safe and you should be, too.”

Rebecca Anne Simpson, of Douglas County, had been missing since Oct. 17, and is facing a charge for being a runaway after deputies found her Monday at a home in Arbor Station. The 16-year-old teen, who was reported missing after she left on Oct. 17, appeared in juvenile court Monday afternoon.

Christopher Martinez and Joe Laredo appeared in on Friday on misdemeanor charges of interference with custody and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, the Douglas County Sentinel reported.

Investigators said Martinez drove the 16-year-old girl from to a QuikTrip near Six Flags, and Laredo then drove her back to Douglasville, the Sentinel reported.
